Welcome from Fern Weis
I am Fern Weis, a Life, Family and Parenting Coach. Looking back, it seems that I was destined to take this path, but it certainly didn't feel like it when I was younger.
I was a pretty shy child and teen, sitting in the background and watching life happen around me. I definitely took no risks. One night at a party (I was about 16) I thought, "There has to be more than sitting back and watching everyone else enjoying themselves." From that moment, I made a serious effort to introduce myself, make small talk and participate. It was exhausting! But it paid off and my world opened up.
Fast forward through:
* college- including a year in France -( I was a French major - the most amazing experience of my life)
* work - French in a corporate setting and then into non-profits
* marriage - the excitement of finding a life partner
* two children - the heartbreak of infertility and the exquisite joy of adopting our kids (a boy, then four years later a girl)
* mid-life career change - becoming a classroom teacher while going through the certification process
So how did I come to coaching? Now there's a story... My son's HS years were tumultuous and threw our family into chaos. When we finally admitted that we couldn't handle it ourselves, we sent him to a boarding school with a program of family-based character education, and with a very intense parent program as well. We chose that program because we knew he couldn't come back to the same parents, and that we had work to do, too.
Life hasn't been the same since. It was an amazing, transformational experience. He went on to complete high school and college and find a job, and the rest of us have grown and explored life in new ways. I continue to volunteer at the school, facilitating parent and family weekends. It's incredible to help other families through the process that saved our family.
Knowing that I could make a difference inspired me to look into coaching. The more I learned, the more I knew it was the path for me. I have experienced coaching as well and know the incredible power of this process.
My purpose and passion is to bring coaching to as many women and families as possible. I will help you be a fulfilled individual who can inspire your family to be their best; to help you discover who you are when you are not a parent; and to have your own dreams again and a way to live them!
It's a wonderful ride. Join me?
