STUCK ON START
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. II Timothy 1:6
If we be honest with ourselves, we all know what we need to do in order to attain our goals. But we just don’t do it. Why is it so hard to do what we must do to move forward to succeed? How do we get off the “stuck on start” button?
Hidden within each one of us, we have one of the most powerful tools unknown to mankind. One that has the capabilities to change the course of history. It is our God-given gift.
How do we change our stuck into stir? When I ask that question it brings me to a time when I was trying a new recipe- I measured correctly, I added the correct ingredients, I set the correct temperature, I used the correct dish; but some reason the end results did not look nothing like the picture on the box. I was so frustrated that I put so much time and energy in this recipe- that I vowed I would never do it again. Determined to believe that the recipe was wrong I consulted my mother (who is a master cook) about the directions and the steps i had taken in this recipe disaster. She (my mother) calmly asked me “how did you stir the ingredients together?” I thought that was the most ridiculous question; that I referred back to the recipe to prove to my mother that the stirring would not make a difference. Wow, was I wrong; in bold letters it stated to use a spatula to stir the ingredients. I could not believe a little thing such as the stirring with a spatula can make the difference-but it did. I believe many individuals are like the recipe story – forgetting to stir it up!
STIR IT UP!
Encouragement
Paul encouraged Timothy to stir up the gift. We all need to be encouraged regardless what position we may hold. It is important to have people around you that can give you encouragement when you feel discouraged. If that is not possible learn to encourage yourself when no one else will- tell yourself yes I can, yes I will, yes I will do.
Everything you need –is inside of YOU!
Paul encourages timothy to stir up the gift which is in thee; Often times we look outside our self or try to duplicate some one else who may look successful or look like they are living life to its fullest- but sooner or later that path will lead you to become frustrated, feeling under qualified and eventually stagnant (stuck on start)-. God has given all a gift! You just need to unwrap it.
The Gift of God
Again our gifts (s) are given by God- not by the world, not by what others think your gifts are, not even by you. Our God- given gifts comes with God-given provision; this is the Power to do and the Power to Be.
Stir Up
Stir Up literally, "rekindle," "revive the spark of put into active exercise. But we must carefully exercise in the duties in which they can be used for and give our whole selves to the task at hand without fear, procrastination, or excuses.
Believe it
The bottom line is about what we hold true for our lives- You can encourage yourself, you can stir up the gift, you can know your God-given gift, but it takes YOU to BELIEVE IT! Once something become true to you and you’ve accepted it- it becomes a reality. The gift is in us, but we have the responsibility to stir it up. The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, “that thou stir up the gift of God “(2 Timothy 1:6).
