As coaches, we tend to be all about the goals. After all, how can you know where you're going or gauge your progress without one?
But Leo Babauta of Zen Habits (a blog I highly reccomend subscribing to) has an entirely different approach - living without goals at all.
Which, as he explains, is not the same as sitting around all day surfing Facebook and ignoring what needs to be done. In fact, he makes a good case for the idea that goals are the source of most of our wasted time - when our to-do list is full of "goal stuff" we dread or just don't want to do right now, we tend to fill that time with useless avoidance behaviors. Whereas with no set goal, we tend to fill our days with what we're most passionate about.
I find this concept relevant to my interests and I'm considering how I can use it to restructure my own life.
Question for the day: How are your goals getting in the way of your passions?
