Walking In the Word

“Every word of God is pure; and he is a shield to them that put their trust in him”

Proverbs 30:5

We know and love God as much as we know His Word.  John [the disciple] stated that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” [John 1:1], and the Word became flesh through Jesus.  It is in His Word that God makes known His persona, commandments, and promises.  Therefore, how can we hold God to His Word if we do not know it?  Secondly, how can we fight Satan other than through the Word of God?  Apostle Paul warns us that “Our struggles are not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, authorities, powers of this dark world, and spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” [Ephesians 6:12].  As Christians, we acquire our courage, power, and wisdom from the Word of God [i.e., reading and hearing].

How many of you know that the Word of God is living and active; sharper than a two-edge sword; it penetrates the soul and spirit; the joints and marrow, and a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart [Hebrews 4:12].  The Word gets us in and out of situations and keeps us from harm and danger.  The Word is the foundation for our Christian walk, as it convicts and guides us to live a righteous life in spite of what is popular. Thus, the Word helps us to distinguish good from evil and teaches us to recognize the motives of others.  In other words, we don’t have to know everything, but we’ll know when it is the wrong thing.  That is, “trust in the Lord and lean not to your own understanding, acknowledge Him and He will direct your path” [Proverbs 3:5-6].

Walking in the Word should be a daily regimen as you will know God better as you experience the awesome power of His wonders and wisdom in your life.  Use His Word to affirm God’s promises during your trials and tribulations.  Understand that God’s Word accomplishes that which it is purposed to do (Isaiah 55:11).  Read an affirmation each day for boldness, courage and to keep Satan at bay!   Listen,

“Know the word for yourself.

You can’t depend on anybody else.

We have to study to show ourselves approved.

For the devil is seeking whom he can devour.

Make no mistake about it, he’s seeking you.”

Word Up!  Walking in the Word is simply declaring who you are in Christ daily.  It gives you the power to move mountains.  It teaches you who you are and why you were created.  As a citizen in the Kingdom of God you have rights and you need to declare them daily; such as, “This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it [Psalm118:24].  I am a Christian victorious in Christ, and I will not fear what man shall do to me.  For my light afflictions, which is but for a moment, works for me a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory [2 Corinthians 4:17].  I shall be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that my labor is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:57-58).  Hence, what shall separate me from the love of Christ?  Shall tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, or sword (Romans 8:35)?  A compilation of “Walking in the Word” affirmations can be found in my book His Eyes Are Upon Me, It’s About Trusting in God.
